The purpose of this study was to investigate job satisfaction of dental residents and its related factors. The study subject were 458 dental residents who were training at 6 university hospital in Korea. Among them, 299(65.7%) responded completely. Data for this study were obtained by self-administrated questionnaire during 3 months(October to December, 2002). The questionnaire consisted of 18 items with 5-point likert scale which was measured job satisfaction and 3 subscale satisfaction which were related to treatment, time, and income. Statistical analysis was done with SAS 8.12. The obtained results were as follows;
1. Respondents¢¥ mean age was 26.9 and man was 66.9%. Also 84.9% of respondents worked more than 10 hours a day, 71.2% of them comparatively well-fitted dentists¢¥ aptitude, and 37.5% and 72.2% of them thought that own and dentists¢¥ socioeconomic status were high, respectively. But only 8.4% of respondents forecasted that dentists¢¥ socioeconomic status would rise.
2. The residents¢¥ job satisfaction was significant difference that keep in mind according to dentists¢¥ aptitude, own and dentists¢¥ socioeconomic status, and dentists¢¥ socioeconomic status view.
3.. Of the respondents, 74.9%o thought that they were satisfied with their job and 72.2% fitted dentists¢¥ aptitude, but 45.5% of respondents answered that they would get other job if possible. It seem to reflect their ambivalent feelings to their job and status.
